Jin Xiuzhu is dead, swallowing a cup of poison wine, ending all her past grievances. Before dying, her only wish is to be reborn as a man in the next life, as being a woman is just too bitter.

Her parents favored sons over daughters, selling her off at the age of seven. She ended up in the Marquis’ mansion, becoming a lowly maid, toiling tirelessly every day. Later, when she was transferred to the courtyard of the eldest son, the lady of the house feared that her beauty would seduce the eldest son and decided to marry her off to a servant who beat his wife. It was then that she actively resisted.

Using all means, she became the honored Lady Jin in the backyard, thriving even after the mistress of the house passed away.

Unfortunately, the Marquis’ mansion fell out of favor, siding with the wrong master. With the ascension of a new emperor, all the men in the Marquis’ mansion were beheaded, and the women were given poison wine to end their lives.

Jin Xiuzhu closed her eyes in relief, but little did she know that when she opened them again, she had somehow transmigrated to a completely unfamiliar dynasty, as a widow whose husband had just died. Not only that, when her husband’s comrades came to visit the family, she resorted to tactics to latch onto them, all for the sake of leaving the impoverished countryside.

Looking at the bare walls of the house and the man lying next to her, Jin Xiuzhu made up her mind, closed her eyes, and lay down to continue sleeping.

Grammatical errors put me right off the book and the storyline just didn't flow properly. You might be a newbie but defending yourself against your readers is a lame move. Just accept criticism and move on. You're the one getting paid and we're the ones paying ??

My personal rating of this manga is extremely low.

I'm not an art critic, so my comments will focus on the storyline, credibility, characterization, and morality.

The central theme of the series is "prostitution." I felt it was treated far too lightly. Instead of condemning a society that permits such barbarity, the work idealizes prostitution and even rape.

This piece might be falsely hailed as "mature" and "deep" because it tackles a complex subject. However, the main characters are entirely one-dimensional and overly flawless, a trait common in shojo manga but unsuitable for the serious situations depicted here.

    - Warning: Spoilers ahead -

For instance, in the first story, we encounter a girl who willingly wants to become a "doll." This seemed so misguided it was almost laughable. The character is portrayed as such an "angel" that she feels sympathy for a sadistic man who whips her unconscious every night. I would argue that if you're attempting to emulate Garcia Marquez's "Mis Putas Tristes" by focusing on the underdeveloped features of a young girl in the arms of a pedophile, at least give the character enough intelligence to show she isn't simply a masochist who enjoys being a prostitute because everyone praises her.

The second story was equally ethically flawed. Here we have a male lead who is a pimp ruthless enough to break in newly acquired girls through a raping orgy. Not content with that, he decides the heroine is too lifeless, so he makes her fall in love with him, ensuring she performs better for customers and competes with his other prostitutes for his affection. If you ever read this story, pay close attention to the ending and tell me if he isn't a two-faced, sadistic pig, given that his attitude toward the other prostitutes never changes.

The third and final story I'll discuss here was somewhat more tolerable, even though it involves sexual abuse by a father figure toward his daughter.

The story and its scale grew bigger and bigger, and aslo author's missteps. There's a lot of loopholes and "bugs" in the story, characters and routes forgotten by the author and repetitious events, coming up again and again. As chapters went by, I got more and more weary. For the last 600 or so, I had to drag and force myself to finish it. But even so, I suggest it. It was still exciting enough.
The ending, oh the ending, It was HORRIBLE! There was no shadow of the brilliant author who wrote this masterpiece. It was more like a teenage fan fantasizing, creating a childish abomination. Around the last 100 or so chapters, it was obvious that the author was facing a complicated mess, not knowing the way out. With an attitude of getting the novel out of their hair ASAP, they made things up on a whim, unexplained, unrelated, and laughable "facts", just to patch the ending together. It was so cliche, so childish, and so very much disappointing...

I just finished reading the entire story and I'm so sad rn coz I'm gonna miss all of'em and at the same time happy because all of them got what they deserve (bad/good). I also want a husband like Mo Ting in the future who'll dote on me, protect me and love me everyday (even though it's impossible) but it's not bad to dream right?.
